A Quick Note

So, first the bad news: Episode C12 wraps the second “season” of “The Ancient World – Carchemish.” The show’ll be on hiatus for the next few months as I turn my attention to a few other projects. Then I’ll be back with another new season this summer. The good news is that next season will not only cover the emergence of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, but – as a consequence – will also have the benefit of the detailed records the Assyrians made of all their “interactions” with the kingdoms and peoples of early Iron Age Syria. So stay tuned for that, stay subscribed, and I’ll see you all in a few months!

      1. I was missing archaeology/ancient history so Just started your podcast, it’s very well researched. Thank you so much. I’ve been looking for a podcast for so long that talks about near eastern archaeology/history!!

          1. Hey Scott, two things for you, in ascending order of importance:

1.) I can’t seem to play the files here on the websites. At least, not the two Carchemish episodes I attempted. Could be me, but just FYI. Google Podcast version worked fine.

2.) This is one of the best podcast serieseses I’ve ever listened to, bar none. I was quite ill, some years ago, and TAW was the only thing keeping me going for a time; I still love it and re-listen regularly. Thank you.

3.) If you get a Patreon, PayPal, or cryptocurrency address, I’ll gladly donate. I don’t mean some little $10 donation, either.

          2. Hi WK! For #1, thanks for reporting the possible issue (I always appreciate it). I tried playing the files on my website and all the ones I tried work OK, so I’m not sure what your problem may be. I’m glad you were able to play the episodes on Google Podcasts. For #2, thank you so much!! I really appreciate the kind feedback on the podcast. I’m also very gratified to hear that it was a help to you during a difficult time – that means a lot to me, and I hope that now you are doing much better! For #3, thanks for the very kind offer!! I may (finally) be monetizing the podcast (ads, Patreon, etc.) later this year. If I do, I’ll let you & everyone else know in one of my upcoming episodes. I very much appreciate the kind sentiment, and I’m glad you’re still enjoying the podcast. Thanks again for stopping by, take care and all my best to you! – Scott C.

    1. Really enjoy this podcast. Thanks for all the work. Having some issues downloading from Google podcast app. Says connection is not secure. Any suggestions?

      1. Hi! Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for letting me know. I’ve been told about this issue in the past and thought it was resolved. I’ll see what I can do to fit it. Thanks again! – Scott

  1. (Scheiße, I said two things but then decided to split it into 3 instead… oops. I was… uh… just testing you!)

  2. Scott: I signed up thru Avid, but no longer get access to the Series. Can you help, please?

    1. Hi Chris! Thanks for signing up. Just to clarify, did you sign up last year, or recently? Will make sure you’re taken care of either way. Thanks!

      1. Hi Scott

Avid sorted me out….they had a hiccup, but all is good again….tx

        (I signed up March 2022)

  3. Hey Scott, love your podcast. Maybe you get asked this a lot, but have you heard the song The Mesopotamians by They Might Be Giants? Think you would like it. Keep it up! Thank you!
    Martin from Sydney Australia

    1. Hi Martin, thanks for stopping by! Yes, have heard the song – used to listen to “They Might Be Giants” quite a bit back in the day 😉 Take care! – Scott

  4. Can’t wait till you return! I’ve been listening since 2015 and love both Ancient History in general and your podcast. Thanks for the great work!

    1. Hi Ryan, thanks very much! I’ve been working on my ongoing book project over the past month or so, but you’ll be pleased to hear that I also just recorded a one-off “Spotlight” episode that I’ll be releasing over the next week. I’m also hoping to re-start the “Carchemish” series over the next month or two. Take care! – Scott
